Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...

Hi all

Like the title - Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water - I now have lymphoedema.

I have started reading up on this subject as I had not heard of it before (and maybe if I had I could have been diagnosed a bit sooner) but a lot of the things I have read so far on the subject have been fairly difficult to find (unless if relates to breast cancer) and the treatment available varies widely according to postcode.

Thankfully I live in a good postcode for healthcare and have been referred to a specialist lymphoedema nurse at our local hospice ( some people have to travel miles and pay a considerable amount of money for the same treatment).

It is a shame the same level of care, treatment and aftercare are not available throughout the country but I can see how large cities such as London can become overloaded and have to cut back and make difficult decisions about priorities.

Hi Becaboo
Sorry to hear of your diagnosis fortunately you are in a good post code and will receiveall the help you require this was not so in the area we live in Lanarkshire which is split into two North very good and South where we are not so good had to fight for even the basic care.
